What it Takes to Become a Financial Planner
A large number of people have been asking me about what it would take to become a financial planner. I have decided to give people the benefit of knowing the basics of being a financial planner by writing this article.
First of all, you need to know what a financial planner is. A financial planner is a profession wherein you will interact with a client and give suggestions on the client’s financial status and objectives that the client wants to attain. You are capable of providing your clients options and different pathways to achieve a certain goal.
Before becoming a true financial planner, you need to have the Policy Statement 146 (RG 146) in the form of a Diploma of Financial Planning. You have to undergo this course but you need not worry because it only takes 8 days or less to finish the course. This course is offered by several educational providers that are registered in Australia. The Australian Securities and Investment Commission or ASIC requires financial planners to have this diploma before you can be regarded as a financial planner who is knowledgeable in your field.
Once you have finished the 8-day course, you are now an eligible financial consultant and will then be able to give advice to clients needing your help on financial matters.
