Cheryl Cole Reveals that She Disliked Listening to Her Own Music
Pop star Cheryl Cole has revealed that she hated the Girls Aloud hit Love Machine when first hearing it.
The song, which was the second single off of the album What Will the Neighbours Say, reached number two in the charts in 2004. The latest Cheryl Cole single has already sold in huge volumes and her album has hit the charts at number
However, the song was not appreciated by X Factor judge and footballer’s wife Cole, who has revealed that she thought the song was “crap” when it was first presented to her.
The 26-year-old recently told Q: “I remember listening to ‘Love Machine’ and thinking, ‘We cannot put this crap out’. That’s what I said to the label: ‘It sounds like something Busted would do!’”
The band, created in 2002 off the back of the talent show Popstars: The Rivals, went on to produce a string of 20 consecutive UK Top 10 singles, four of which were number ones.
Consisting of singers Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole, the girls have sold 10 million records worldwide and become a household name, with the recent success of Cheryl Cole aiding their popularity.
In 2009, the band announced they were taking a year-long break to pursue solo projects, but plan to reunite for a new studio album in 2010.
Cole released her debut album 3 words while working as a judge on this year’s X Factor, with her single Fight For This Love holding the number one spot for two consecutive weeks and taking the title of the fastest-selling single of 2009.
